2015, Pantry Turnover / From Scratch

I want to make more stuff from scratch in 2015. (I don’t know if it is the pouring over the Oh She Glows cookbook that I got for Christmas or a renewal/resolutions thing.) But I started doing just that, focusing on turning over the dormant items in my pantry, fridge, and freezer. First, pumpkin butter from the white pumpkin puree that has been in my freezer since 2013!

Next, some homemade energy bars with a variety of pantry items. These have peanut butter, pepitas, cashews, walnut, gluten-free rolled oats, chia seeds, chocolate chips, golden raisins, golden flax seeds, pistachios, as well as the last of my granola cereal. IMG_3991

Ah, the tahini. I haven’t touched it since I subbed it for peanut butter in a cupcake about one year ago (see 2014 pantry turnover post). I finally finished it off with this lemon-tahini all-purpose dressing.

And while I take stock of what’s in stock in the fridge, I decide that I don’t want to buy anything I can make anymore. So I made a vegan mayonnaise with sunflower oil. PicMonkey Collage2

Then, I made us some potatoes, finishing off the fresh thyme. Oh, I will bury you in thyme when the sea begins to slide into this hole where you and I will sing our songs unbroken as the water starts its chokinnnnnn’
