Intestine Scraper Muffins (Parental Advisory: Potty Talk)

The quicker your food…er… exits the better. With that and a few days of unhealthy eating in mind, I concocted a batch of intestine scraper muffins! These delicious darlings are packed with psyllium seed husk, oat fiber, wheat bran, flaxseed meal along with blueberries and uber-ripened banana. The psyllium expands to scrape your intestines clean, the Scrubbing Bubbles of plant fiber, while the insoluble fibers (wheat, flax) draw moisture to the undigestibles traveling through the intestinal tract, easing them out more quickly.

It is very easy to add these little helpers to baked goods and they also result in a hearty richer texture. Give ‘em a try! Use ½ cup of one of these with the recipe below.
- Nature’s Path Smart Bran Cereal (13 big ones of fiber per serving)
- Bob’s Red Mill High Fiber Hot Cereal (another 10 grams here)
- Hodgson’s Mill Course Miller’s Bran

2 TBsp Earth Balance
2 heaping TBsp sugar
½ tsp vanilla
2 ripe bananas
½ cup whole wheat flour
(½ cup fibrous stuff)
1 heaping tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda

Pre-heat 375
