Eggloo Goes Vegan

In this Insta-age of eating, a photogenic meal can create quite the buzz. Like Eggloo and their specialty dessert from Hong Kong, Gai Dan Jai (translation: Little Eggs). After they tried a vegan waffle out atย the Vegan Food and Drink Festival at Randall’s Island in the summer, they gaged Instagram interest in trying out vegan in their Avenue A location in Manhattan’s East Village.ย  Yadda, yadda, yadda—now vegans get their “little eggs”… Eggloo is making egg-FREE waffles for us vegans!ย  I was happy to support this endeavor and help represent the strong demand for vegan options.

As soon as you walk in, the smell hits you and you’re fighting to speak through drool, choosing unlimited toppings, sauce and ice cream. The waffle is perfection. In fact, I wound up dumping the meh ice cream and toppings into a garbage.ย  It’s gratuitous.ย  The waffle needs nothing else really. It has this nostalgic taste of some unidentifiable sugary cereal but soft, warm, baked. One of the most delicious things I’ve eaten in some time.ย ย A beautiful sweet treat in your hand.

The delightful waffle without all that other stuff.
