Happy Father’s Day c/o Orange Glazed Scones

My family gets to try a lot of my goodies. I bet my this fact doesn’t excite them half as much as it excites me to have an opportunity to bake! For Father’s Day I knew I needed to switch up my usual offering of cupcakes to account for the fact that the house is usually stocked with several bakery cakes come special occasions. And although my dad always digs into whatever I make with high praises, this time I wanted to make something right up his alley. He is a fan of the orange-flavored sweet snack… weird stuff. Ever since I was a kid I remember his grocery purchases: orange “jelly” cups, that orange jello-chunked cream stuff, orange jelly rings (Passover chocolate covered orange concoctions), etc etc. His mother, my grandmother, also made a delicious orange bundt cake with vanilla glaze I know I have mentioned on here for sure. So with my handy microplane grater in hand, I made him some orange glazed scones, the ones from VwaV. Here they are, in all their mouth-watering glory… packed with the zest of several oranges and a generous helping of super-sweet glaze to knock the socks off not just dad but mom and the siblings too. Happy Father’s Day! (Dad is pictured with his special girl, Pancake, to whom he still is head honcho.)
