Vegan Options at the Staten Island FerryHawks Game ⚾

Initially these plans were with my friend Bruce–we have been to baseball games at all of the area’s professional stadiums. But before we could visit the Staten Island Yankees at their home ballpark, they ceased operations in 2020. Founded in 2021, The Staten Island FerryHawks, part of the Atlantic League Read more…

Citi Field Vegan Report 2023

Long time, no baseball! With a visit to Citi Field to see a New York Mets game, I checked out the vegan status of the stadium. Unlike the reporting of previous years, what is vegan at the stadium is way more obvious thanks to notations on the menu… and the Read more…

Hot in the Vegan Citi Tonight

It’s been a long time since I have been at a baseball game at Citi Field! Though rainy, it was great to be part of the energy of the ballpark… and especially with old friends. First a glimpse of the new Tom Seaver monument. It’s impressive. Said old friends! Now Read more…

Vegan Night 2021

I was home for a minute when I received a message about the night’s Brooklyn Cyclones game… a limited edition bobblehead my Mom would flip for was being offered and it was… Vegan Night. So, I decided to jump right back into New York City, right into the concentrated dose Read more…

Abandoned Middletown State Homeopathic Hospital

The future of Middletown State Homeopathic Hospital, a groundbreaking care center that employed homeopathic techniques in treating mental illness that opened in 1874 as the State Homeopathic Asylum for the Insane at Middletown, is still in limbo. Its history remains in a sprawl of buildings off State Route 211 in Read more…

2019 Vegan Yankees Stadium Update 💸

I got the chance to head to Yankees Stadium with some of my students today! So of course I took advantage of the opportunity share this vegan update for the 2019 season. Things have gotten a bit… sloppier, as below indicates. Bareburger at Field Level Concourse near Section 132. Sure, Read more…

Another Star Wars Day

A bit late, but it’s my first New York Mets game of the season! I am proud to say that my blog is the top Google result for “vegan Citi Field.” [And I am the 4th result for “vegan yankees stadium” too! And 8th result for “vegan Brooklyn Cyclones” while Read more…

Vegan Night with the Brooklyn Cyclones

How cool that the Brooklyn Cyclones would do a vegan night!  Well, to be accurate it was Grateful Dead Night, Vegan Night, Cub Scouts Night, so on and so forth. But I appreciated the options… and the buzz of Coney Island in the evening, one of my favorite Brooklyn things. Marty’s Read more…

A Fond Farewell to Summer: I can tell you my love for you will still be strong after the selfies of summer have gone.

This is kind of how summer is… and kind how the days after summer are, too. They are potent… and in the rear view seem further away when they’re gone. Seeing pictures from the summer once the school year starts is surreal.  Time passes with a tremendous stomp. This blog post Read more…

Yankee Stadium (V)

[New for 2018 season! Please see most recent report on vegan offerings at Yankee Stadium here.] The last time I was at a New York Yankees game was 11 years ago in the old stadium. And though sports rivalry can raise the stakes in an enjoyable way, this Mets fan Read more…

🇺🇸 Beer, Baseball, Veggie Dogs 🇺🇸

It is the 4th of July long weekend so it was time for baseball and beer.  And veggie dogs.  Sometimes I think that I get a Citi Field veggie dog just to have a vehicle for piles of stuff from the fixin’s bar.  Lucas Duda’s home run apple. There are Read more…

Spring’s First Visit to Citi Field

Veggie dogs are more a vehicle for fixin’s. Even more so now as Citi Field now seem to have a new dog that is very, er, tasteless. Not exactly sure of what changed from previous years? Perhaps it is no longer from Yves Veggie Cuisine or maybe they changed their recipe? Either way, it’s Read more…

Golf in the Day / Baseball in the Evening

It was a sporty day. First, it was The FedEx Cup (Bubba) in the morning at Bethpage’s Black Course. I’m a fan of Bubba. He’s a total weirdo. This is a good thing.  And baseball in the evening! This is the joy of summers off, being free from a draining Read more…

Summer Sights

Summer–on the way home. Summer–with mustard, onion, and relish. Summer–on the field.

Sun Sandwich

Isn’t it amazing how days are neatly organized, bookended by the rising and setting of a bright, hot, great ball of fire? Goodness. Gracious.  Inside them, other good things that bring you joy and sustenance, like a cracked chocolate-encased marshmallow… …Spring baseball in front of a plate of fruit-filled pancakes, with lots Read more…

Autumn Beauty, Vegan Oneonta/Cooperstown

Before setting out on a road trip, a vegan has to consider how long it may be until a proper meal is available. Like a marathoner, it may be appropriate to load up on carbs to anchor the behind in for hours driving (not running). This is why I love Read more…

Mets Play-off Cupcakes

The Mets are in the play-offs. With a tough loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers last night, I’m baking up these blue and orange wonders.  Let’s go Mets!

Back to School Blues (Silver Linings)

On V.V. Summer Assignment, Day 3: O.H./K.Y./T.N.

I woke up in Cincinnati ready to say goodbye to Ohio. Ohio is chock full of metropolises… Cleveland, Cincinnati, Columbus, and other such C-words. But with this being my third day about, the inevitable turn back east had to be soon. So it was fare thee well, Ohio… But not Read more…

Night Game–Citi Field Vegan

The second to last row in Citi Field is first row for the sunset viewing. First course munchies: A slice of V for Vegan from Two Boots‘s stand. Though I’m not a fan of the Daiya fake cheese, it’s a rule you get to splurge at the ballpark. Especially when your team is Read more…

Sport-inspired Vegan Treats

Coming up for air from the chaos of a new school year, I baked some “12 Men on the Field” cupcakes: rich chocolate cake (I used Chloe‘s celebration cake), vanilla buttercream filling, chocolate ganache-topped with a vegan royal icing football laces. 3 types of icings for every cupcake.  I’m not Read more…

Play Ball!

Before the baseball game, we hit the all-vegan bakery on Long Island, Sweet to Lick. I got the orange creamsicle cupcake. Then a vegan hot dog at Citi Field, with all the fixins. A delicious day topped with a free canvas of David Wright’s tongue.
