Vegan-ish Hiking Boots

A lot of shoes are made from animals. With a trip to Yellowstone coming up, I needed some vegan hiking boots. Here is my research in case it helps.

To note:

• I was searching for women’s mid-cut hiking boots, so my list does not include low-cut hiking shoes. Many of these brands also offer low vegan options. There are one or two high cut/men’s.
• Some of the styles listed are current, but some are previous or discontinued. I listed them here because I have no problem with buying used. The pair I wound up buying was found used on eBay.
• When it comes to vegan shoes, there is a consideration of glue. It is not easy to find out whether a shoe’s glue is animally derived. Sometimes the shoe company doesn’t even know. [This is a very thorough link on athletic shoe brands’ glue type that also includes information on working conditions. And this great compilation from Vegan Outdoor Adventures, which has much more information than my own, has some information on vegan glue.]
• I am calling this list Vegan-ish, as the shoes listed contain no animal skins. The glue might be animally derived. Please feel free to chime in if you have definitive and current information on the glue source. If you’re a vegan who abstains from animally-derived glues, please share the brands and shoe styles you own, not just yell about how some of these shoes are not vegan.
• I am not maintaining active hyperlinks on the shoe choices. An internet search on the shoe will bring up the most current active websites.
